LED Screen Installation Guide

1. What Determines How an LED Screen Should Be Installed?
The installation method depends on where the screen needs to be positioned and how it can be properly supported within the event environment. We do not select ground support, freestanding support, or suspension simply from the screen dimensions.

2. How Do We Plan an LED Screen Installation?
We plan the installation from the finished display position backward. First we establish where the audience needs the screen; then we determine the physical display, support, power, signal, processing, cabling, access, and installation sequence required to put it there.

4. When Do We Use a Freestanding LED Wall?
A freestanding LED configuration can be appropriate when the display needs to operate independently from a conventional stage backdrop or overhead suspension system.
We may evaluate freestanding LED for:

Product displays
Temporary event environments
The installation still requires us to verify the screen dimensions, support configuration, footprint, audience access, power, signal, service access, and applicable structural requirements.
“Freestanding” does not mean structurally independent of proper support. The selected system still needs to be installed according to its approved configuration.
5. How Do We Install a Truss-Hung LED Screen?
A truss-hung LED wall is suspended from an approved overhead support system rather than supported from the floor. Because the complete LED system becomes an overhead load, suspended installation requires additional structural and rigging planning.

6. How Does Screen Size Affect LED Installation?
Screen size directly affects the physical installation because increasing the display dimensions typically increases cabinet quantity, total system weight, power requirements, data distribution, support requirements, and installation labor.
The relationship is approximately:

However, two equally sized LED walls can still require different installation configurations if they use different cabinet systems or are installed in different environments.

Power and signal are separate systems, but both must reach the correct LED cabinets and control equipment for the display to operate.

8. How Do We Plan LED Screen Installation Around Venue Access?
The LED wall must physically reach the installation location before it can be assembled. For New York events, access planning can be a significant part of the installation workflow.

11. What LED Screen Installation Mistakes Do We Help Prevent?
Installation problems usually occur when the screen, structure, power, signal, venue, and production schedule are planned separately instead of as one system.
Selecting the Installation Method Too Early
We do not decide that a wall will be ground-supported or suspended before evaluating the screen position, venue, structure, sightlines, and production design.
The installation method follows the actual event requirements.
Finalizing Screen Size Without Checking the Venue
A proposed LED wall may conflict with ceiling height, stage dimensions, rigging limitations, access routes, scenic structures, or other production equipment.

The LED cabinets are not necessarily the only components contributing to an installation.

We do not assume a screen can be suspended simply because overhead structure exists.
